Lessons

Have decided that the past several years have been practising:

  1. Acceptance
    • of myself
    • of others
    • of the world
    • of the past
  2. Giving with no strings attached (another way of looking at acceptance of others)
Now that I feel quite adequately comfortable with the progress of the above mission, it's time to begin another. One of: Letting go - I have to learn to let go of people and situations that hurt me and what I stand for. No doubt, there are fine lines between perseverance/stubbornness and opening new doors/giving up. But I have to learn to draw those lines for a) longevity and b) relevance. I think I began this lesson as a part of acceptance, but I would like to state it explicitly - just in case you didn't know I was aware of such choices available to me. *sigh* there's OCD, then there's dedication.

Very difficult to do, but worth it!
Letting go of people and situations that are not beneficial to you is a hard lesson to learn and to follow through with, but I can assure you that in the long run it will make you a stronger person. I recently have let go of people in my life who were not good for me and although I still think of them as good people our personalities did not go together.

Sometimes I feel that there are different types of friendships.

1. Lasting
2. Temporary

The temporary types of friends are the ones who are meant for a period of your life, I feel. You can learn from one another and help one another, but in the long run the frienship will not last. That is when you have to learn to let go.
